Introducing ACCESS
Hello friends!
You haven’t heard from me since late March, because I haven’t had many new bylines since then. But I have been hard at work reporting, scripting, and trying my hand at something new: audio editing. I put most of my other writing work on hold to focus on one big project. It’s something many of you have heard me talk about for a long time: a podcast about abortion. I’m both thrilled and terrified to tell you that it’s finally here. The podcast is called ACCESS, and the trailer is out now.
You can listen to the trailer here, and subscribe wherever you get your podcasts.
I’'ll be releasing the first episode next Thursday, September 3rd, and it’s all about what actually happens during an abortion. More topics you’ll hear about in the near future include telemedicine, abortion during the COVID-19 pandemic, and self-managed abortion. The goal of the show is to demystify abortion, answering all the questions people are often afraid to ask, or don’t know they should be asking.
My original (pre-pandemic) plan for the show was very different. For one thing, I was going to travel to clinics all over the country. But this pandemic has become the greatest and most unexpected challenge to abortion access of our time, making the podcast more relevant now than ever. It’s been a real labor of love to produce it alone, from my closet, but I’m proud of what I’ve been able to make and I hope you’ll listen in!
