Welcome to So I Discovered!

Those of you who know me know that when I have a question, no matter how inane, I can’t help but look for the answer. The result is that I often fall down rabbit holes, which fortunately I can justify in the name of journalism.

A lot of my best pieces have arisen from the hunt for an answer to what may have started out as a silly question. That, or any number of my very niche fascinations. My favorite parts of being a reporter are mostly behind the scenes: research, talking to interesting people, and soaking up information. The hardest part is deciding what to cut.

This newsletter will allow me to share some of the fascinating things that don’t make that final draft. It will go out only when I have a new byline or reporting project in the world, and let you in on the reporting process. Most of my writing falls into the broad category of “health,” but under that umbrella you’ll hear about reproductive health, abortion access, fitness, rehabilitation, technology, culture and more.

Glad to have you here!
